The route: leave the town behind and keep up with nature

Our itinerary strikes the perfect balance between convenience and nature, forming a pleasant loop. Starting right from Affi’s shopping district, you quickly leave the traffic behind and slip into a network of quiet residential roads that lead straight to a natural path along Via Monte Baldo.

What comes next? A series of mixed-terrain trails that gently wrap around Monte Moscal, offering ever-changing scenery—from vineyards to woods to glimpses of the lake.

Once we reached the Moscal, we decided to venture onto a short woodland path that cuts through its interior. It added just the right hint of adventure and changed the rhythm of the walk, all while keeping us far from traffic.

(Want a clear path to follow? Check out the full route at the end of the blog.)

Back on the main trail, as we continued our loop around the Moscal, we were captivated by a vivid sunset unfolding before us. We couldn’t resist stopping to enjoy the moment and to catch our breaths.

From here, the loop really comes to life. With Lake Garda and Sirmione appearing on the horizon, we follow the path back toward the center of Affi, still wrapped in greenery, before finally returning to our starting point in the commercial area.

We crossed the busy road in a hurry (because we were hungry). However, we recommend using the underpass to the right of the roundabout for a safe and convenient way to reach the Grand'Affi shopping center.

Once the walk comes to an end, you can simply return to your car or take the opportunity to enjoy one of the many spots for food or shopping. And if timing is tight, it’s always wise to get back before dinner is already on the stove!

Panorama

At one of the most striking viewpoints along the route, with Lake Garda stretching out below and Monte Moscal at our side, we couldn’t help but pause. It was the perfect moment to capture our hike in the warm colors of the sunset—a beautiful reminder of an afternoon spent in nature and in great company.

A glance at the modern world: the wind turbines

As you begin the route, at certain panoramic spots in Affi, your gaze will stretch far beyond the vineyards. You’ll have the chance to admire the towering wind turbines of Rivoli and Affi: an evocative contrast between the area’s centuries-old agricultural tradition and modern technology rising sharply against the sky.

  • Difficulty: suitable for everyone—no special physical preparation needed. The route is quiet and easy to follow, using Monte Moscal as your main point of reference.
  • Gear: wear light hiking shoes or trail-running shoes for better grip and comfort on mixed terrain; otherwise, comfortable sneakers will do.
  • Optional: bring a water bottle, and consider a hat or a light windbreaker depending on the weather.
